Over 550 magazines and 40 newspapers are available within the Middletown Public Library system. These serials cover a variety of interests, from automobiles to zoology. The aim of the collection is to offer materials for both educational and leisure pursuits for all ages and interest levels. While predominately a popular collection, some of the materials offer more in-depth information for school and personal research.
The library retains back issues of its newspapers and magazines. Most newspapers are kept on hand for one month. The Middletown Journal and Wall Street Journal are kept indefinitely in microfilm format. Barron's National Business and Financial Weekly and the Wall Street Transcript are retained for five years.
To borrow a magazine held by another branch, simply request it at the information desk or use the on-line catalog to place a hold on the issue using your library card. The material can usually be delivered to your branch within two days. Current magazines and bound periodicals do not circulate.
