Outreach Services

Outreach services are available through the Extension Department of the Middletown Public Library. Call 513-424-4918, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for more information.

Shut-in-Service
Shut-in-Service (SIS) is offered on a monthly basis to qualifying homebound individuals who cannot make it to the library. Our librarians will deliver materials to your door and will pick up any that you have finished. This service is available on a short-term or a long-term basis.

Qualifications:
  • Live within Middletown Public Library system's service area. Click here for map of our service area.
  • Complete an application for service.
  • Be unable to visit a library because of illness, accident, disability or infirmity.
Deposit Collections
A deposit collection is a small library collection (100-200 books) of general reading material supplied to a qualifying agency or organization serving the elderly, the disabled, or those with a long term major illness. These collections are serviced on a monthly basis to assure a fresh choice of reading material.

Qualifications:
  • Agency must be within Middletown Public Library system's service area. Click here for map of our service area.
  • Fill out a contract for service complete with the name of a contact person who will be directly responsible for managing the collection.
Contracts will be reviewed annually to evaluate ongoing need.

Talking Books
The talking book program is for people with sight problems or physical disabilities. Under this program you will be issued a special tape player for your use during your participation in the program. You will also get a regular supply of "talking books" through the mail. Our librarians will help you apply for service.

Qualifications:
  • Live within Butler or Warren counties.
  • Be unable to read or use standard printed material as a result of temporary or permanent visual or physical limitations.
  • Complete an application for service.
